Immediate ASHRAE and CDC responses to COVID have called for better breathing air filtration, less air recirculation and a higher ratio of outside air. Even when scientific acceptance emerged that there is air borne transmission, tools to measure the effectiveness and guidelines for choosing practical and appropriate measures for a particular space are yet lacking. How do we measure and evaluate the potential for hazardous exposure, effectiveness of engineering controls, and overall safety outcomes?
